About Northern Lights Arena

Northern Lights Arena (NLA) is the only facility in Northeast Michigan to provide two first- class, official NHL sized ice rinks within one building. Our state of the art primary rink provides seating for 1,200, an in-rink concession stand, eight large, full service private locker rooms and an 1/8 mile rubberized walking/running track.

About Northern Lights Arena Community

Multi-Purpose Arena Coalition (MPAC), or better known as Northern Lights Arena Community (NLAC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated and responsible for the operations of Northern Lights Arena. NLAC is made up of volunteer community members and is dedicated to maintaining the facility in a profitable manner and to maintain accessibility to citizens of the Alpena area. Outreach activities include a walking track, learn to skate programs, non-ice events and programs, as well and many other recreational activities. Of course, the core business utilizes the ice rink facilities for figure skating, hockey and speed skating. Main users of the group include: Alpena Hockey Association, Alpena Blue Line Club, Alpena Figure Skating Club, Alpena Speedskating,  Alpena Men’s League, Alpena Wildcat Hockey, Shipwreck Alley Rollers-Women's Roller Derby, Alpena Curling Club and NLA Walkers.
